Organizing

Today I practiced getting chores finished while dealing with my little allergenic baby :)
He's a Parker all right. Bring on those seasonal allergies!
I don't have as many spices as Molly, but her blog inspired me to do-over my cabinet anyway (I knew baby food jars would come in handy for something).
I painted some shelving and put these up while making a homemade lasagna for dinner. We're having a college couple over tonight.
In anticipation of saying goodbye to Pingue I cleaned her cage extra well. When I brought her to the living room, to await Jon and Amy, Keith became fascinated. They're both so cute!
And lastly, Steve and I switched desks. Since I've begun sewing again I needed an area I could leave my cutting board set up on. So his Bible courses were moved to the big desk...
...And I got his old desk.
Mommy/baby sewing area :)
Soon I'll have enough tops to start listing them on Etsy!!
PS. My mom is amazing. My handsome husband and I were just discussing that the other night. If I could be more like her our home would be that much more cozy :) You're loved, Joan Parker! Thank you for the head start on my shop :)

Better than vinyl letters ;)

I'm just going to go from room to room and show y'all the quotes I painted on the walls. I used the church's little power point projector hooked up to my laptop to display these. Then I took a Sharpie marker in the color I planned to paint the letters and traced them. It took one day to go around tracing and the remaining week to fill the letters in. But it only cost the $1.99 for the black craft paint.

Sewing again...

I cut out and sewed this top last night while waiting for Steve to get home from evening shift. (He walked in at 12:45 am)
I had a happy little audience for a bit.
I also finished all but the borders on this iSpy quilt top.
~When Steve walked in after work we both grinned and asked when the last time we did something crazy was. Then we turned around and went out on a date :)
We got home and to bed after 3. Best date ever and we talked over a hour about just us~
Fun times, fun times

Packages from NC!

I got two packages this week :)
Dad ordered me some stainless steel measuring cups on Amazon.
Mom sent me a very carefully packed and full box of fabrics and patterns to get started on my Etsy shop.
Can't wait to start sewing again!

Tuesday stroll

Keith is practicing to be a little king and doing marvelously.
Yup, I'm cute.

Milestones :)

Yesterday Keith decided that sitting up is better than being prone the rest of his life and from then on he wanted to be a big boy.
Today he cut his first tooth!
Very proud of the accomplishment. There's no way to see the tooth. I'm not that good :)

New plants!

Our neighbor is moving away soon. Yesterday she dug up all of her plants and gave them to us. This morning Steve and I totally redid our flower beds by the front porch.
From this...
To this...
And this...
To this...
Steve did all the heavy work of moving two small trees...
Over to here. There was a gap where two of these had passed away earlier.
No more gap! I did lots of weeding and planted the flowers and monkey grass once Steve prepared the beds.
When we planted the trees over against the house we dug this up. Umm, anyone missing a shirt?

Neat things I've found

A long time ago I found this pacifier strap in a Baggie of baby clothes.
I use it to hold Keith's toys onto him :) lol
Yesterday I saw this bumper sticker.
Then, when I was mowing the garden/chicken yard, I found this car the chickies had scratched up.

National lemonade day

It really is! So since we're talking about taking lemons and making a sweet tangy drink...
Yesterday everything that could go wrong did. And as fast as possible, too.

Here I am having a wonderful morning and getting a lot accomplished. The floors are all vacuumed and swept. Keith is happy and playing in the living room with himself. Then at 2pm...
1. The washer decided to leak all over the laundry room (after we thought we'd fixed it)
2. As I was putting the clothes in the dryer, to free up room for all the wet towels in the washer, the whole house went dark and we lost power.
3. Losing power simply let me hear a trickling sound from the AC closet in the hallway.
4. Investigating (in the dark) showed that the puppies had dug around the run-off pipe and it was up in the air where it couldn't drain.
5. As I sopped up dirty water with our remaining dry towels I hear a poopy baby  crying in the living room.
6. Once Keith is changed he gets deposited in his crib to cry while I dash to Dani's to borrow Nate's shop vac.
7. I get home to find the puppies had gotten on the back porch a month or so ago. They destroyed our only outdoor extension cord then. Back over to Dani's. (After Tiger scratches my arm)
8. I feed the dogs their supper to keep them out of the yard while I suck out the AC pipe with the shop vac. It works. It only takes as long as Tiger takes to eat his supper and Twig's, too. Twig won't come on the back porch again, so she goes hungry.
9. I get Keith up and feed him.
10. I go to the attic to get our revolving fan down. I want to dry out the hall closet. The attic door is broken and I can't pull it down. I leave the closet door open and stuff my last two towels on the floor.
11. I removed the air valve to the washer drain so I could finish those (3) loads of stinky wet towels... The laundry room smells like the septic tank now.
12. I feed the chickens, clean up from feeding the dogs, feed Keith again, make supper and start laughing.
13. Steve gets home. He's not laughing.
14. We work all evening on the washer and attic door. Neither get fixed. We still don't know why the washer won't drain and have to replace the attic entry and ladder.
15. 4 roaches and misc. other bugs get in when we have the front door open so we have a squishing party before going to bed.
16. Twig howls at trains passing 50 miles away. (She just learned this skill and has been practicing. Late at night. Under our window. She's really good now.)
17. We got to pray for almost half an hour and immediately fell asleep.

Buuuuut! Keith was absolutely adorable and happy all evening.
What do we learn from this? God will provide...but I have no idea how :) This will be cool.

Photoshoot with Keiffer

At Sara's on Saturday I tried to pose Keith. Nothing doing.
He's a good little wrestler anyway :)
Playing on the floor.
At our house today. He sits up fairly well :)

A Thursday with me...

This morning, since Keiffer slept til nine o'clock, I got some wash done. James had diagnosed our washing machine drainage problem as a broken air intake valve.  I could still do wash if i removed it, but we needed to replace it soon. After Keiffer woke up I fed him and we trotted off to Walmart. I'm updating the photo albums today!
Grammy Jo had made this adorable cover out of Clifford fabric. He looks so grown up!
Doggie nail polish? Hey, it dries in ten seconds! That would work, right?
After Walmart we found the part for the washer at Lowes and as we were leaving I realized I could make it to Pensacola to have lunch with Steve and still get to Sara's in time to babysit this afternoon. We had a yummy meal (Keiffer had sweet potatoes and rice) and I made it to Sara's by 1:30. She had an appointment and I said I'd watch the girls for her. Since all the babies were sleeping it shouldn't even go on a babysitting record. I just lazed around and read a book while surfing folk's blogs.
God is now watering my new flowers...
...while Keiffer tries out a new toy on loan from Anna Bryan.
I love that he has cousins nearby that are just ahead of him developmentally. He gets free toys just in time :)
Now I'm folding laundry and making rolls and stroganoff for dinner. We're having Steve's friend, Tim, over before he leaves for Texas this weekend.
Fun fun!
