39 1/2 weeks

Three days til my due date. I'm so ready to meet Keith!
My ever-faithful bathroom mirror, lol :)

Puppies

We wore them out on Sunday with all our yard work.
Chasing rakes and keeping an eye on our leaf fire wears one out!

Carlie Jane Bryan

Born February 20th at 12:15 am, 8 lbs 3 oz, 19 inches long.

Happy Valentine's Day!

The day after Valentine's Day, our church had a Sweetheart Banquet. It was wonderful! Complete with a five-course meal, some games, and a short message.
I had trouble finding a Valentine-y outfit that still fit! I went with a pink and black skirt and black shirt.
The "how well do you know your spouse" game. Steve and I got 3 1/2 out of 5 right when we played :)

Settlers of Catan

James and Sara received a board game for Christmas called The Settlers of Catan.  They have had us over multiple times to play with them.
Steve and I absolutely love the game, but it's a whopping $40 anywhere we look for it. Over several days Steve made his own board and the cards (with a little help from me).
We play our own 2-player version often, and both really enjoy it.
 The original.
Steve's copy.

Baby Shower!

The ladies at Trinity Baptist Church held a baby shower for Keith and me last night.  I got many beautiful things, plus a lot of items I really needed (diapers, washcloths, etc). Since every shower has its repeat item I was watching for mine. It was Monkeys. Nearly all the little outfits and bibs and blankets were monkey-themed! Cute.
Danielle, Becky and Sara did all the decorating. Baby Tiggers!
Yummy supper, the dessert was mostly fresh fruit. Mmmm

Danielle made this diaper-stuffed baby. Several people thought it was a real baby!
I put him in the pack 'n play from Mom and Dad Bryan to keep safe.
Congrats, New Mommy!

Red Rock River

We took Tiger and Twig to the river this afternoon. The goal was to get them comfortable with swimming and do some hiking. The water was super high, tho, and freezing cold!  The puppies had a blast playing around, but didn't actually volunteer to go swimming :)

We all crashed when we got home. Naps are wonderful things :)

Stromboli

Pap and Grandma took Steve and me to Socio's Pizza when they were here a while ago.  Steve ordered a Premium Stromboli. It was so delicious that he asked me to make one at home.  I used our pizza dough recipe and made it the way I thought they did at Socio's. Boy, did it taste good!!
We both only ate half of ours :)

37 weeks

Why don't people just say 8 months, one week?
Who really knows what 37 weeks is anyway?

Strawberries

These were on sale, 10 quarts for 9 dollars. Strawberries have got to be one of the prettiest fruits :)
Washed
 Sliced
Homemade yogurt parfait
I got a recipe from Samantha Jackson for how to make the yogurt, too!

New bushes!!

Steve works nights this week, so he and I went to Lowes this morning to buy some bushes. We got Pittosporum bushes to line the front of the house with.
Steve did all the hard work.

My VIP job: watch the puppies in the front yard.
They gathered pine straw for us...
...helped Steve snip off the tags...lol
Tada!  They're tiny, only about 8 inches tall. They'll grow, tho.

2-2-13 Butchering the Roosters

We butchered our two roosters on Saturday. Jason and his family came over to help us.  It was very easy and a good learning experience for the kids :)
"What's that? Why are you killing the chickens? What part of the chicken is that?"

 Ready to pluck and clean:

Pressure Cooked:

Yummy, they will go into my freezer meals for this month.

2/1/13

Duh!

Previously I'd mentioned that I had a rooster.
Well, both chickens in that post turned out to be roosters. Both are Barred Rock, but one looks very funny. Anyway, they fight and pick on my nice hens all the time, so tomorrow their number is up and we'll be putting 2 chickens in the freezer.
Our brother-in-law, Jason, will be heading up the butchering, since Steve and I have never done it, but I want to try it out too. I won't be taking pictures for the most part (Seriously, who wants to look at some bird getting plucked, and gutted??), but I might put a few on here later.

Happy February, everyone!!!
